Rust Pond Association
Dam Emergency Action Plan

INTRODUCTION
Rust Pond is a 210 acre body of water located in South Wolfeboro, NH. It has a dam owned by the Rust Pond Association which is used solely to control the pond level. There is a maximum of 3 feet of water held by "stop logs" before it reaches a 21 foot wide, uncontrolled spillway. From the dam the water flows approximately one half mile through deep, rocky brooks to Lake Winnipesaukee, 75 feet below. The brook flows mostly through wooded areas but does pass under Route 28 and by two businesses as well as several residences.

Authority was granted to forego preparation of a full breach analysis. A map indicating the areas covered by the plan is included as an exhibit. A notification chart has been prepared - it includes two local businesses as well as a local "emergency" personnel. Emergency procedures have been explained to both groups. The notification chart is included as an exhibit. A monitoring program has been established to periodically monitor the dam and record specific information.

In no way does this plan suggest there is any deficiency or risk in the Rust Pond Dam.
